About Me
Mr Amir has been providing Secondary Science tuition for more than 12 years and specializes in Lower Secondary Science, Upper Secondary Chemistry and Physics. He has tutored more than 350 students from established institutions such as Raffles Institution, Raffles Girls’ Secondary, Hwa Chong Institution, Nanyang Girls High, Anglo Chinese School (Independent), Methodist Girls’ School, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School; amongst others. More than 90% of those students achieved A’s and B’s in their school and national examinations.
A Raffles alumnus, Mr Amir pursued Psychology at the National University of Singapore and has worked in educational and clinical settings such as the National University of Singapore (NUS) and National University Hospital (NUH). He was also part of a team of researchers that published clinical journals in the field of health psychology and psychometrics. He later went on to become a full-time tutor in established tuition centres where he held positions of Senior Teacher and Head of Secondary Science before embarking on his own.
At the core of his teaching, Amir firmly believes in creating ample learning opportunities, cultivating effective studying habits, constant engagement via intellectual discussions and continually igniting the passion for knowledge. By delivering differentiated learning, his lessons are structured yet highly engaging and interactive. He encourages students to discuss, debate and question, honing their critical-thinking skills. He strongly believes in holistic education of his students by being a good mentor and role model to them.
A firm believer in the ‘work hard, play harder’ mantra, Amir is also a food and travel junkie, plays the saxophone and enjoys diving during his free time.

Amir taught me Science from Sec 1 to Sec 4. During my transition from lower to upper secondary, Amir aided me in this huge gap by focusing on my foundation while also teaching me new methods to push me in my understanding of different concepts. Amir’s lessons are informative but also funny and are a joy to attend. His lessons are personalized, focusing on the weak points he identifies for each student.
He has helped me to not only improve my Sciences, but also hone my skills for other subjects through the use of study techniques that have evolved with me. I was well equipped to solve both challenging and multifaceted questions for my O levels, which I scored distinctions for all 3 Sciences.
